Look Inside is a gaming experience with gripping stories and tricky riddles that puts empathy and understanding for mental health at its centre.
For moments that bring you closer together.
How do you talk to someone about mental health problems without saying the wrong thing? What do you do when a friend is going through a hard time, depression for example, and you have no idea how to help? And what can you actually do for your own mental health?
Plenty of people know these questions. And still, it is hard to start the conversation. Mental health carries a stigma to this day, and there is often no easy entry point. That is exactly where Look Inside comes in.

No spam, just the moments that matter.
Whether you want to grow yourself or be there for someone who matters to you, Look Inside gives you an exciting gameplay experience and opens an easy way into conversations that otherwise might not happen.
No theory. Instead you immerse into a story together and that carries you along. You make decisions and see where they lead.
Surprising riddles open up the view from inside. You come to see what can be going on inside a person, and what helps without pushing them. Developed with experts in psychology.
The best part happens along the way. Conversations start on their own and bring you closer, and nobody has to open up about themselves.
More than 200 people have already played Look Inside, among them people with own experience of mental health crisis, their social surrounding and professionals from psychology and the board game industry. Their different perspectives shape our development and show us what a shared game experience can do.
This game is unique, because the route to its goal runs through genuinely feeling your way into another person. The playtesting had a completely different atmosphere from the usual. We were talking about mental health difficulties well beyond the game itself, and it was clear that everyone had widened their view.
The game “Look Inside” takes on mental health in a special way. Instead of lecturing or pushing players into personal confessions, it makes empathy the central force of the game. To reach the goal, you really have to put yourself in another person’s situation.
What moved me most was how the game creates a safe space. We talk about difficult feelings and problems, but because we look at them through a character, we never feel exposed. Conversations about mental health come up all by themselves, naturally and without pressure.
The game is entertaining, and it is also a valuable instrument for widening your own perspective.
A very entertaining and inspiring game. It handles a rather uncomfortable subject really well and gets you developing new perspectives and points of view.
As a game, “Look Inside” is a precisely designed mechanism that raises players’ awareness of mental health and depressive states in a coherent, well-founded way. The cooperation and the level of detail ask players to develop empathy and to weigh up human interactions carefully, above all with a view to whether they improve or worsen the protagonist’s mental state. In doing so, the game ties an interactive story to role-playing elements in a way that keeps you hooked.
As someone who has had little contact with people living with mental health problems, I find it fascinating to get to know how they see and think about things, and to talk it over with others. The game definitely broadens your horizon, and it is fun along the way.
I met the two game designers a few years ago. Their passion and their drive to grow won me over straight away. They take on an important subject and keep the fun of playing intact. This is certainly not one of those dusty games where the learning comes from a dull quiz. Well worth a look inside!
We work with professionals as we develop the game. The characters and their stories were created with psychotherapist Przemek Mućko, and our game concept was examined scientifically in a pilot study at Heidelberg University, supervised by Prof. Dr Peter Kirsch. What came out of it confirms the path we are on.
Now we are looking for partners who want to create something meaningful with us: practices, clinics, schools and teams that try Look Inside and help shaping it. And foundations, associations, health insurers, multipliers and media partners who give the subject visibility and open new doors.
Together we can make sure Look Inside reaches the people it can make a real difference for.
