What is Mend-o?
Mend-o is an impact start-up that we founded in 2023. We develop playful solutions around mental health.
We don’t do this alone. Together with experts in psychology and board game design, we explore how people can engage with mental health in a way that is accessible, positive and well-founded.
Our vision is a society where people talk openly about mental health, where psychological wellbeing is valued as a matter of course and where people get support when they need it. We want to contribute to this by building awareness and understanding of mental health through play.
The idea behind mend-o is closely tied to our own experiences. As people with lived experience and as family members, we have seen first-hand how hard it can be to talk about psychological strain, to understand someone else’s situation or to find the right support. We also realised that information alone is often not enough. People need ways to come together, see things from new perspectives and start conversations, without pressure and without automatically creating a heavy atmosphere.
This conviction guides our work. We want to treat mental health respectfully and on a sound psychological basis, without turning it into a lecturing or uncomfortable experience. That is why shared experiences, changes of perspective and the joy of play belong together for us.
Our first product is Look Inside, a cooperative, story-driven board game. It combines an immersive story and puzzles with psychological content and a shift in perspective into the inner world of a fictional person.
